- Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant and television presenter Angela Scanlon has been announced as the new host of BBC Radio 2's Drivetime show, taking over the weekday 4pm to 7pm slot from November.
- The 43-year-old Irish presenter, who previously presented Sunday morning shows on Radio 2, expressed her excitement at joining a weekday lineup alongside radio figures Trevor Nelson and Jo Whiley.
- Scanlon steps into the position vacated by Sara Cox, who took over the Radio 2 Breakfast Show earlier this year following the departure of Scott Mills.
- Scott Mills was dismissed by the BBC in March after the corporation received new information regarding a previous police investigation into allegations of serious sexual offences.
- It was recently revealed in the BBC's Annual Report that Mills had been the corporation's highest-paid employee prior to his dismissal, earning up to £749,999.
