In an October 2025 interview with Vulture, EJAE described Kim as her songwriting partner and said they had grown up together. Their professional collaboration has continued over the years, with Kim contributing to her music through songwriting, recording and feedback on her work.
Kim has been involved in the creative process behind some of EJAE’s music, including work connected to the hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters (2025). During an interview with 92nd Street Y, EJAE revealed that the vocal arrangement for “What It Sounds Like”, one of the film’s songs, was recorded in her Brooklyn apartment with Kim. She explained that the track featured numerous vocal layers, harmonies and crowd vocals, adding that his voice could be heard in the recording.
He has inspired EJAE’s songwriting
Kim has also influenced EJAE’s songwriting through their relationship. The singer has spoken about drawing inspiration from their experiences together, including the song “In Another World”.
In multiple interviews, EJAE has explained that the track was inspired by a period when the couple took what she described as a healthy, intentional break to reflect on their relationship and future. The experience helped her explore the possibility of two people caring for each other while questioning whether their circumstances would allow them to stay together.

Kim and EJAE married on 17 October 2026 in Seoul, South Korea. Their celebrations included a traditional paebaek ceremony, a Korean wedding custom, at the Korean fusion restaurant Congdu50. The couple subsequently exchanged vows at Stage 28, a venue that held personal significance for EJAE because her grandparents had lived in the house on the property during her childhood.
The wedding marked a new chapter for the couple, whose relationship began through music and has continued to influence their creative lives. While EJAE’s profile has risen through the success of KPop Demon Hunters, Kim has remained connected to her work as a collaborator and sounding board for her music.
