- Khamzat Chimaev put his middleweight title on the line at UFC 328 in New Jersey against Sean Strickland on Saturday night.
- Chimaev was making the first defence of the title he won against Dricus du Plessis last August, and was the heavy favourite going into the contest.
- However, Strickland upset the odds to claim a split-decision victory after five rounds, as he became the UFC middleweight champion for the second time.
- It was the first loss of Chimaev’s MMA career as he moved to 15-1, while new champion Strickland is now 31-7.
- In the co-main event, Joshua Van defended his flyweight title by knocking out Tatsuro Taira in the fifth and final round.
