KOTA KINABALU: MCA President Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong criticised SAPP President Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee's recent statement that non-Sabah-based parties should not contest in the next state election.

"If you (Yong) look down on the status of the party from the peninsula, why are you sitting in 'two ponds'," he said at a press conference after officiating the Sabah MCA annual general meeting, here, Sunday.

Wee said that although MCA is based in the peninsula, Sabah MCA leaders still have the autonomy to lead the party in the State.
