Bill Simmons has floated one of the wildest ideas yet for LeBron James’ eventual farewell season, suggesting the NBA superstar should play for every team in the league.

The long-time NBA analyst believes LeBron’s retirement tour could become a league-wide event rather than being tied to just one franchise.

Instead of signing with a single team, Simmons thinks the NBA could turn LeBron’s final year into something completely unique.

Bill Simmons proposes a LeBron James retirement tour with all 30 NBA teams

Speaking on his podcast via Spotify, Bill Simmons laid out an unusual idea for how LeBron James could approach the final chapter of his career.

“What if instead of signing with any one team for next season, LeBron makes his retirement tour an actual retirement tour by signing a one-week contract with all 30 teams,” Simmons said.

He added: “Every team gets one LeBron home game where he starts and plays, and they sell thousands of limited jerseys.”

Simmons argued that the concept would turn LeBron’s farewell season into a massive celebration across the entire NBA rather than limiting it to one city.

It would also give every fanbase the chance to see the four-time NBA champion play in their colours, even if only for a single game.

Bill Simmons says LeBron James could create headlines in every NBA market

Simmons continued to build on the idea by explaining how the concept could create a new storyline in every city LeBron visits.

“New York finally gets Knicks LeBron. Minnesota gets an Ant LeBron team up. Miami gets Heat Reunion LeBron. We just keep going,” Simmons continued.

The veteran analyst concluded, stating: “He’s not going to win the title no matter where he goes. Why not generate news in every local market?”

The suggestion highlights how enormous LeBron’s global profile has become after more than two decades in the NBA.

Even as he approaches the final years of his career, the Lakers superstar remains one of the league’s biggest attractions and most discussed players.

While Simmons’ proposal is clearly more fantasy than a realistic plan, it shows just how unique LeBron’s eventual retirement tour could become.
