- Norway had a goal disallowed at 1-1 after Torbjorn Heggem scored from a goalmouth scramble in their quarter-final clash with England.
- After a corner, Sander Berg sent the ball to the back post, where Alexander Sorloth forced Jordan Pickford to make a save but Heggem was on hand to tap home; England players protested the goal after Erling Haaland pushed Elliot Anderson before the corner kick was taken.
- Prior to the overturned goal, ITV’s refereeing expert Christine Unkel explained the reasoning behind the decision: “They'll check Haaland, because it was a full extension of the arms with the push, if it would prevent a meaningful impact of going for the ball, I would be surprised if this was not overturned.”
- The incident was looked at by VAR where referee Clément Turpin reviewed the footage on a screen; Turpin agreed Haaland committed a foul and ordered a retake of the corner kick.
- The winner will face either Argentina or Switzerland in Atlanta at 8pm BST (3pm ET) on 15 July, with the World Cup final set for 19 July at 8pm BST (3pm ET).
