Remember the ear-splitting roar of engines, and the excitement of watching F1 cars speed through the Sepang Circuit? It’s been so many years since Formula 1 left Malaysia, but now is the time for its return!

According to their story, from 1999 to 2017, the Sepang International Circuit was one of the stops on the F1 calendar. It was designed by architect Hermann Tilke and it produced intense racing, and treasured memories. Legends such as Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, and Kimi Räikkönen all raced on this iconic track. More than just a competition, it was a celebration of speed and international unity that made Malaysia known in the world of motorsport.

So why did they stop? Mostly because hosting costs are high and ticket sales are declining. But what never faded was the passion of the Malaysian F1 fans, and the situation has since evolved.

F1 is doing really well in Asia. With crowded circuits in Singapore and Japan, Malaysia could capitalize on that momentum. The return to Sepang would highly boost tourism, generate local economic growth, and bring national pride. While the cost of hosting is undeniably high, they are outweighed by the potential revenue. Since hosting the Formula One race in 2008, Singapore, our neighbour, has generated over SGD 2 billion in tourism revenue and economic prospects.

Thanks to Netflix's Drive to Survive and a new generation of fans ready for excitement, F1 is now more accessible and loved than ever. Beyond the thrill, a Malaysian Grand Prix could support our local racers, giving them a global stage and helping with their motorsport dreams.

With the passion of fans and the right support, we can bring F1 back home, so the heart of Sepang can beat loud and proud once again.
