Hard Rock Stadium has a different name for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but this is not a permanent rebrand.

The Miami Gardens venue is being used as Miami Stadium during the tournament, which is the name listed by FIFA for World Cup purposes.

That is because FIFA does not allow World Cup stadiums to be named for companies that are not official FIFA sponsors.

Hard Rock Stadium carries a corporate naming-rights identity outside the World Cup. During the tournament, that changes because FIFA controls the commercial presentation of its venues.

The rule applies beyond the stadium name. Non-FIFA sponsor branding and signage must also be covered while the venue operates under World Cup conditions.

That is why the Hard Rock name has disappeared from tournament use. It is a temporary World Cup requirement, not a change to the stadium’s long-term identity.

The venue itself has not moved. It remains located in Miami Gardens, even though the tournament name uses Miami.

How many World Cup matches Miami Stadium will host

Miami Stadium has a major role in the tournament. Its seven-match schedule includes four group-stage fixtures, a Round of 32 match, a quarter-final and the third-place match.

That means the temporary name will be visible across several stages of the competition, not just for one fixture.

The explanation is straightforward. Hard Rock Stadium is called Miami Stadium for the World Cup because FIFA’s branding rules require a clean commercial venue name during the tournament.
