“Widow’s Bay” wins Best Comedy at the Emmys, setting a new record with 14 awards in a single season for Apple TV
LOS ANGELES: Quirky horror series “Widow’s Bay” on Monday won the Emmy for best comedy, the crowning achievement for Apple TV’s new show, that bagged a record 14 awards.
The show, starring Matthew Rhys as the mayor of an isolated – and possibly haunted – New England island, bested perennial favorites “Hacks” and “Abbott Elementary,” as well as “The Bear,” “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” “Nobody Wants This,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Shrinking.”
It broke the record for most Emmys by a comedy in a single season — a mark set just last year by Seth Rogen’s Hollywood satire “The Studio.”
