SHAH ALAM – The wife of missing Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JPBM) officer Mohd Sani Harul has made an emotional plea for his safe return after being unable to contact him for four days following devastating flash floods and landslides in Nepal.
Aziela Shaharuddin appealed to Allah to protect her husband, who is the Planning and Research Division Deputy Director at JPBM's Headquarters and return him safely to his family.
In an emotional prayer shared online, Aziela said her family remained hopeful despite not knowing Sani’s whereabouts or condition.
“Assalamualaikum, ‘abang’. It has been four days without any news from you and the team in Nepal. Oh Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful, at this moment, our family raises our hands to You with hearts full of hope, longing and fear.
“We have gathered as a family because we miss you so much, but until now we still do not know where you are or how you are. Oh Allah, protect him from floodwaters, landslides, the cold, injuries and every danger that we cannot see or anticipate.
“Make the efforts of those searching for and rescuing him easier. Guide them to where he is. Show them the way to reach him,” she said.
Aziela also asked for strength and protection for Sani if he was struggling to survive.
“If he is struggling to survive, strengthen him. Give him patience, give him hope and whisper into his heart that Your help is always near.
“Oh Allah, strengthen our family’s hearts too. We admit, Oh Allah, that we are afraid, worried and crying. We do not know what will happen next, but we do not want to lose hope in Your mercy.
“Oh Allah, You know how much we miss him. You know how much we want to see his face again. We want to embrace him again.
“If there is still a chance for us to meet him, then allow that meeting to happen. Allow us to see his face again. Allow us to hear his voice again. Allow us to embrace him again. And allow our family to give thanks to You for his return,” she said.
She ended her prayer by asking for her husband to be brought home safely.
“Oh Allah, strengthen him. Make it easier for those searching for him. Return him safely to us. We are not asking for something great, Oh Allah. We are only asking for him to return to his family,” Aziela wrote.
Her post received an outpouring of prayers from netizens, who prayed for Sani and other Malaysians still unaccounted for to be reunited safely with their families.
Another officer still missing is the department’s Special Air Unit member Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, who is also a professional climber.
Sani and Fakhrul were among 10 Malaysians travelling towards Everest Base Camp when the disaster occurred.
Previous media reports said 55 Malaysians remained unaccounted for following severe flash floods and landslides in Nepal on Wednesday.
