The first season of Glen Powell’s wonderfully absurd sports comedy series Chad Powers has concluded, and fans are already wondering what every disguised quarterback fears: Will there be a return? Here is what we know so far about the possibility of Chad Powers TV series season 2 and potential release date.
The idea that you can fix your life with a fake nose and a wig is perhaps the most American of all. Chad Powers (Glen Powell, also known for Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters) is about delusion and disguise. It is a six-episode comedic redemption story about Russ Holiday, a former American football star who re-emerges as “Chad Powers” in order to return to the game. It was adapted from former quarterback Eli Manning’s widely shared 2022 skit. By the end, the fans are hooked, the lies are being exposed, and the prosthetics are falling off. Of course, they want more.
Chad Powers season 2: Will Glen Powell’s sports comedy series return for another round?
Glen Powell, who seems incapable of doing anything half-heartedly (and will soon be seen in The Long Walk, based on a Stephen King book), has already hinted that Chad Powers season 2 could happen “if folks dig it.” Co-creator Michael Waldron agrees. In true underdog spirit, he told The Wrap, “If folks dig it, we’ll make more.” Which, in Hollywood speak, means: start streaming, start tweeting, and maybe the Catfish will swim again.
As of now, Hulu hasn’t announced a renewal for Chad Powers season 2. But since both Glen Powell and co-creator Michael Waldron have hinted they are ready to suit up again if fans demand it, there is a strong possibility that we will see it in near future.
What to expect from Chad Powers season 2?
There is still much to discover because season 1 ending has Russ’ secret still intact. His true identity concealed from the public and his alter ego hailed as a folk hero. Russ’ struggle to keep up the lie as Chad’s fame grows, Ricky’s conflict over whether to expose him, and the Catfish entering a new season under the shadow of near-discovery could all be plot points for a possible season 2. To put it briefly, the wig remains in place for the time being.
Is there a potential release date of Chad Powers?
No, since it is yet to be greenlit, season 2 of this show does not have a release date. Looking at the complexity of the production, though, it might be at least a year before we see it (if we do ever see it).
