HBO’s dark comedy series DTF St. Louis has left viewers with plenty of gasps and one big question: Will it return for a season 2 packed with even more unhinged drama? Here’s what we know so far about the show’s potential return.
Created by Steven Conrad, the seven-episode series follows the twisted lives of Floyd Smernitch (played by David Harbour), his wife, Carol Love-Smernitch (played by Linda Cardellini), and his best friend, Clark Forrest (played by Jason Bateman).
Floyd and Clark both find themselves stuck in sexually unfulfilling marriages with their respective wives, Carol and Eimy Forrest (played by Wynn Everett), and turn to DTF St. Louis, a local dating app that promises to add spice to their stagnant love lives.
But what starts as a simple game of swiping right and arranging hook-ups soon takes an unusual turn when Clark begins a sexual relationship with Carol, with Floyd’s consent. Things seem to be working out just fine for the three of them, but when Floyd ends up dead under mysterious circumstances, Clark and Carol become the prime suspects in his murder.
When a plot is this chaotic, viewers can be expected to want more of it. But wait, is a season 2 of DTF St. Louis even happening? Let’s find out.
Will there be a season 2 of the HBO TV series DTF St. Louis?

The finale of DTF St. Louis neatly ties up all loose ends and resolves all character arcs. Therefore, the show is unlikely to return for a second season. Moreover, it has always been marketed as a limited series, and so far, HBO has made no announcements about a season 2 of DTF St. Louis.
How does DTF St. Louis end?
(Trigger warning: Mention of suicide)
The finale of DTF St. Louis sees detectives Donoghue Homer (played by Richard Jenkins) and Jodie Plumb (played by Joy Sunday) uncover the truth behind Floyd’s death.
After being rejected by Tiger Tiger, whose real name is Kevin Van Der Lonse (played by Chris Perfetti) — the man Clark had tried to set Floyd up with on DTF St. Louis — Floyd suffers a major blow to his self-esteem, prompting Clark to meet him by the pool. There, the two undress, dance and talk about their insecurities, which lifts Floyd’s spirits.
Unfortunately, Floyd’s troubled stepson, Richard (played by Arlan Ruf), spies on them and, lacking the full context, jumps to the conclusion that his stepfather is cheating on his mother with Clark.
Richard waits for Clark to leave and then confronts Floyd about what he believes he has seen, hurling insults at him and making cruel remarks about his naked body.
Floyd, who is already struggling with body image issues, takes the comments to heart and, tragically, decides to take his own life by ingesting an entire bottle of Amphezyne.
