Will Miami weather disrupt England v Norway World Cup clash? This is the current forecast

  • England will face Norway tonight in a crunch quarter-final at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (10pm BST, 5pm ET) tonight with some fears that the game could be delayed due to adverse weather.
  • The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the area, while the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WGBT) will also sit around 29C to 32C; the WGBT combines air temperature, humidity and surface temperature readings and is used to help keep players safe.
  • BBC reporter Dale Johnson adds: “There is no suggestion that the game will not take place, but it is obviously right on the edge of what is considered safe.”
  • Weather forecasters AccuWeather predict highs of 33C an hour ahead of kick-off - with a ‘Real Feel’ above 40C and a chance of rain is at around 50 per cent; thunderstorms are then predicted for 7pm, which is when the game is due to end if the game ends in normal time.
  • The winner will face either Argentina or Switzerland in Atlanta at 8pm BST (3pm ET) on 15 July, with the World Cup final set for 19 July at 8pm BST (3pm ET).
