It’s day four of Wimbledon 2025 and it’s another packed schedule ahead with Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek, Jack Draper and Jannik Sinner all in action.

To the dismay of the home crowd, Djokovic thrashed Britain’s Dan Evans in Centre Court’s opening match, as the seven-time Wimbledon champion recorded his 99th win at the grass-court slam. That match came after Evans’s young teammate Jack Pinnington Jones was beaten by 22nd seed Flavio Cobolli.

There is still hope for the home crop, though: last out on No 1 Court, Draper faces former major winner and Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic.

Yesterday saw impressive wins by Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal in the second round of the ladies’ draw, although their fellow Briton Katie Boulter bowed out. Raducanu will play the world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a highly anticipated contest on Friday. On the men’s side, Cameron Norrie knocked out 12th seed Frances Tiafoe to book his spot in the third round, while Carlos Alcaraz saw off the spirited efforts of British qualifier Ollie Tarvet.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 3-3 Cilic*

Draper looking focussed here - he definitely still believes he can win this match. Is Cilic fading just very slightly?

Draper controlling more of the points and steps forward to bang a cross-court forehand winner past the Croat for 40-0.

Hold that thought, two lovely points by Cilic and he’s back to 40-30...

OH MY WORD! THAT IS SPECTACULAR. Cilic is completely out of the point, a big serve sends him wide, he’s being run side to side, Draper drop shots and the Croat somehow gets there and flicks the most glorious shot across court, past the Brit to win the point! How ?!

Wow! Anyway, Draper then wins the next two points to hold...

No sign of a break of serve yet here in set number four. Draper takes a tumble during his service game but still wins the point and bounces back up unharmed. Ah, the flexibility of youth!

Cilic then responds with a solid hold himself. We’re entering the middle part of this set now.

Around the grounds - Wimbledon latest

While these two keep banging down rockets on No 1 Court, let’s take a quick whizz around the grounds at the All England Club.

Over on Centre Court, men’s No 1 seed Jannik Sinner has just got underway against Australia’s Aleksandar Vukic. A good start for Sinner who has the early break to lead 3-1 in the opener.

Meanwhile, 13th seed Tommy Paul trails Sebastian Ofner by two sets to one (6-1, 5-7, 4-6, 3-3) and Gael Monfils has hit back to be one set all with Marton Fucsovics (4-6, 6-1). Meanwhile, August Holmgren has stunned talented youngster, and 21st seed Tomas Mahac in a five-set marathon (7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 7-5, 7-6 (10-5))

On the women’s side, 28th seed Sofia Kenin has lost 6-1, 7-6 to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

*Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 1-2 Cilic

18:57

,

Luke Baker

Not much for Draper to work with there. Cilic pumps down big serve after big serve and holds to love.

Can the Brit get one chance to break his opponent?

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 1-1 Cilic*

18:55

,

Luke Baker

Back over to you, Marin. Draper with an easy hold and back on his toes to take a look at a Cilic service game once more.

*Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 0-1 Cilic

18:52

,

Luke Baker

A settler for Cilic to open up the fourth set. Comfortable hold to 15, sealed with a fizzing forehand winner that finds the line.

It probably plays to his advantage serving first in this set.

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 6-1 Cilic - DRAPER WINS THE THIRD SET!

18:48

,

Luke Baker

Draper will want to save as many bullets as possible and wrap this set up here and now.

Instead, he falls 0-30 down as Cilic is swinging from the hip and striking gold. Arcing ace down the middle and then a whipped forehand winner down the line from Draper is a good response to make it 30-30.

Ace out wide and it’s set point. IT’S THERE! Cilic shanks the return long.

*Draper 4-6, 3-6, 5-1 Cilic - DRAPER BREAKS AGAIN

18:44

,

Luke Baker

Cracks appearing in the Cilic facade now? He’s not as dominant on serve as he was just 20 minutes or so ago. It’s another break point to Draper in this game, although an ace down the middle from the big Croat alleviates the danger.

Second break point though as Cilic falters again. Now a look at a second serve and Cilic fires a backhand wide. Double break for Jack Draper - exactly what he needed

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 4-1 Cilic*

Jack Draper has had a lot to contemplate so far in this match

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 4-1 Cilic*

18:38

,

Luke Baker

The old tennis cliche of a break not being worth a damn until it’s consolidated with a hold of serve feels very apt here.

Pressure on Draper as he squanders game point, allowing Cilic to force deuce. But a couple of big serves bail him out. That was a very, very important hold. The set is at his mercy now.

*Draper 4-6, 3-6, 3-1 Cilic - DRAPER BREAKS

18:34

,

Luke Baker

Well, well, well. What have we here? Draper gets himself to 0-30 and then a Cilic forehand is netted.

Three break points for Draper, having had just two in the entire match so far. First one SAVED by Cilic, who holds a hand up in apology as a net cord goes his way. Draper chuntering away to himself/the tennis Gods in response...

Second one SAVED. Big serve, unreturned. Surely Draper can’t afford to squander all three? He doesn’t! Well-constructed point and a forehand down the line secures the break for Jack Draper. Big! Can that be a turning point?

Draper 4-6, 3-6, 2-1 Cilic*

18:26

,

Luke Baker

Draper’s serve is finding its range more consistently now, although his service games are still peppered with moments of Cilic brilliance, such as his thumping forehand winner here.

But in the end, a fairly simple hold to 15 for the Brit.

*Draper 4-6, 3-6, 1-1 Cilic

18:24

,

Luke Baker

If you’re a Jack Draper fan and looking for the smallest, and I do mean smallest, of consolations, at least he’s serving first in this third set.

If his serve holds up as it’s going to need to to entertain any sort of epic, late-night, Andy Murray-esque comeback, then he’ll have the edge of being ahead and pressurising the Cilic serve.

Draper breezes through his first service game to lay the early template but Cilic responds with a hold to love. Fist pump and an intense look in the eyes of the big Croatian.

Swiatek races through decider to triumph

18:21

,

Luke Baker

Swiatek 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 McNally

You know what, that’s a good win all told in the end for Iga Swiatek.

Having dropped the first set from being ahead, she hit back to race through the final two sets against Caty McNally, claiming the decider 6-1.

I know she’s not the most comfortable on grass but the way the women’s draw is opening up, Swiatek might like her chances of going deep

Draper 4-6, 3-6 Cilic - CILIC WINS THE SECOND SET!

18:17

,

Luke Baker

A “come on” from draper to pump himself up as he wins the first point to get an early foothold in the Cilic service game but that’s great power! Cilic just unfurls himself to arrow a backhand winner cross-court before an ace down the ‘T’.

Unreturned serve and it’s two set points. Smooth as you like! Draper’s return goes long and Marin Cilic has won the second set 6-3. He’s just one set away from a big upset on No 1 Court. Draper in all sorts of trouble

Draper 4-6, 0-2 Cilic* - Cilic breaks again!

17:54

,

Chris Wilson

Quality stuff from Cilic in the opening points of Draper’s serve, as he races to the net to power home for 40-30 – and the Croatian secures the break brilliantly.

He’s in control at the moment on Court 1!

Draper 4-6 Cilic - Cilic takes first set!

17:44

,

Chris Wilson

A simple enough hold for Cilic, who dropped a double fault to fall to 15-30 but then won three points without reply to take his game.

Draper is serving for the set now, and he starts with a great rally that ends with Cilic just stroking a forehand to the opposite side for the lead.

A near-perfect approach shot sets Cilic up to volley over at the net for 30-0, before a skilful forehand ends with Draper overhitting the return! He needs to save three break points here...

But he can’t even save one, with the serve being rifled back at him out of reach for 1-0.

Swiatek forces a decider

Swiatek 5-7, 6-2, 0-0 McNally

She may still not be truly comfortable on grass but Iga Swiatek is fighting out on Centre and has levelled up her match with Caty McNally.

The Polish eighth seed has cruised to a 6-2 triumph, setting up an intriguing decider.

Can Swiatek pull through now in the third?

Krejcikova fights her way through

Luke Baker

Krejcikova 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 Dolehide

The defending champion in the women’s singles draw is still in there fighting and books her place in the third round.

For the second match in a row, Barbora Krejcikova needs three sets but takes the decider 6-2 here to beat Caroline Dolehide of the USA.

It’s 10th seed Emma Navarro up next for Krejcikova on Saturday

Swiatek 5-7 McNally - McNally takes first set!

16:53

,

Chris Wilson

McNally will serve for the set!

She gets the break at the second attempt, and will serve for the set now!

And she does just that!

McNally sets up three set points and doesn’t need them as Swiatek overhits s forehand for 7-5!

The American had been 4-1 at one point!

Defending champion Barbora Krejcikova could be in trouble here.

*Djokovic 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 Evans - GAME, SET & MATCH DJOKOVIC

15:27

Potential for Evans to break here suddenly as Djokovic slices wide for 40-15 to the Briton.

However, Djokovic fizzes in an ace before rifling in a forehand with Evans having committed the other way.

Back to deuce, and the seven-time winner takes advantage before Evans mistimes a shot and hooks it long.

Game, set & match to the sixth seed!

Arthur Fery exits as another Brit falls

15:23

,

Alex Pattle

The latest British player to exit Wimbledon is Arthur Fery, who falls to a 4-6, 3-6, 3-6 loss against Luciano Darderi in round two.

With Djokovic serving for the match against Evans at 5-0, the only British men left may be Jack Draper and Cam Norrie in a few minutes’ time.

On the women’s side, Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal are the only home players still flying the flag for Britain.

*Djokovic 6-3, 6-2 Evans - Djokovic wins the second set!

14:57

,

Chris Wilson

Djokovic takes the sixth game without reply, and he’s now won 11 points in a row.

Evans is serving to stay in the second set now, and he wraps it up, but it feels like only a matter of time...

And that is that, with Djokovic winning the final game unanswered.

One unforced error from Djokovic there, five from Evans, but it’s the serve where the sixth seed has been dominant.

Struff knocks out Auger-Aliassime in part two of second-round duel

14:53

After Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jan-Lennard Struff picked up their second-round tie today, it’s the latter who’s emerged victorious!

The match was tied at one set all when they resumed play this afternoon, and Struff took the next two sets to oust the 25th seed.

Below is a very cool picture of Auger-Aliassime, though I’m sure that’ll be of little consolation to him.

Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-7(9), 3-6, 4-6 Struff

Andreeva seals safe passage into third round

14:42

,

Alex Pattle

On a week when many top seeds have failed to sprout in the women’s draw, Mirra Andreeva at least keeps going.

The No 7 seed progresses past Lucia Bronzetti, winning 6-1, 7-6(4).

Djokovic 6-3 Evans - Djokovic wins first set!

14:25

,

Chris Wilson

Can Djokovic take the first set here then?

He’s been far from imperious but was better when it mattered just then.

He races into a 40-0 lead with a clever slice and volley, before rifling in an ace to take the opening set.

90 per cent of 1st serve points won for Djokovic compared to 72 per cent for Evans, with the Serb having 17 winners to the Brit’s 11.

Eight unforced errors each, so not a lot to separate them in that regard.

De Minaur advances with fourth-set bagel

14:02

Alex de Minaur books his spot in the third round!

The Aussie, seeded 11th, sees off Arthur Cazaux: 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-0.

He breezed through that final set.

Cobolli 6-1, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 Pinnington Jones - GAME, SET & MATCH COBOLLI

13:10

,

Chris Wilson

In the end just a stretch too far for Jack Pinnington Jones, who exits at round two in his first ever Grand Slam. The 22-year-old will have plenty more opportunities though.

For Flavio Cobolli, a really promising performance on Court 18. He powered into a commanding lead and had the quality when it mattered just as it looked like Pinnington Jones could get back into it.
