Win Sg Buloh seat first, Zahid reminds Khairy on becoming PM

BAGAN DATUK - Khairy Jamaluddin was reminded to win the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat first before aiming to be the prime minister.

Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the focus should be on strengthening the party and not issuing statements that could damage the party's image.

"We can have different opinions but if we make accusations or just becoming a proxy (promote) ourselves to be the best, the smartest and wise, that is all pretentious.

"Now is not the time to raise trivial matters. We should focus on winning first," he said.

He said this after a meeting with the Chinese community in Bukit Melintang today.

Zahid, the Bagan Datuk incumbent wants Khairy to prove that he is capable of contributing seats to BN to form a government.

"I gave him another chance to compete in Sungai Buloh even though that is not his place.

"He has to work hard to contribute one seat to Barisan Nasional to form a government," he said.

The media previously reported Khairy expressed a desire to lead Umno and the country one day.
