Google has announced they have officially wrapped up its acquisition of Wiz, and instead of folding it completely into the background, Wiz will continue operating under its own brand while becoming part of Google Cloud.

As more businesses and governments shift critical workloads to the cloud, and increasingly rely on AI, the threat landscape is evolving just as quickly. Attackers are now leveraging AI themselves, which means defenses need to scale in both speed and intelligence. That’s essentially where Wiz comes in, with a platform that connects across major cloud providers and focuses on identifying, preventing, and responding to threats in a more streamlined way.

By combining Wiz’s cloud-native security capabilities with Google Cloud’s infrastructure and AI expertise, the goal is to deliver a unified platform that can handle everything from code-level risks to runtime threats. This includes detecting new AI-driven attack patterns, protecting AI models themselves, and even using AI to help security teams hunt threats more efficiently. At the same time, the platform is designed to standardize tools and policies across environments, which is a big deal for organizations running multicloud setups.

Despite being absorbed completely by Google, Wiz will still continue supporting other major platforms like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

From a business standpoint, this could significantly accelerate multicloud adoption, since companies can maintain flexibility while improving security across different platforms. It also lowers the barrier for smaller organizations that don’t have the resources to build sophisticated cybersecurity operations, giving them access to more automated and scalable protection.
