Barcelona whiz Ansu Fati is officially a Spanish citizen.

The Council of Ministers agreed on Friday to grant Spanish nationality and a passport to the 16 year-old Barcelona player, at the request of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and of the Higher Sports Council.

Fati has already been included by the RFEF on the list of 50 U17 players for the World Cup that starts next month in Brazil.

The nationalisation process was fast-tracked so Fati could be part of the Spain squad.

Fati also had the option of playing for Portugal, but always made his commitment to Spain clear.
