
In a series of anti-drug operations, the police in Jalandhar Rural district arrested five alleged drug peddlers, including a woman, and seized heroin, poppy husk and intoxicant tablets from them.
In the first case, the Lohian Khas police arrested two persons after seizing 5.18 gm of heroin from them. Station House Officer Sukhjinder Singh said the accused were identified as Kulwindar Masih, alias Manna, son of Balwindar Masih, and Manpreet Singh, alias Mani, son of Jaswant Singh, residents of Aadian village under the Dorangla police station in Gurdaspur district. A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them.
In another operation, the Nakodar Sadar police arrested an alleged woman drug peddler, Gona, wife of Dalwara Ram, a resident of Thabalke village, with a seizure of 3 kg of poppy husk from her.
In a separate action, the Nakodar City police arrested Inderjit Singh, son of Surjit Singh, a resident of Sunder Nagar, Nakodar, with 28 intoxicant tablets.
Similarly, the Nurmahal police arrested Manjinder Aujla, alias Mani, son of Charanji Lal, resident of Bhangala village, with 51 intoxicant tablets. Investigating Officer Amandeep Singh said the accused had been booked under the NDPS Act.
