
KINABATANGAN: A 44-year-old woman and a five-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a collision between their Proton Saga and a Toyota Hilux Revo in Kampung Jaya Baru, Jalan Bukit Garam, on Saturday.
The woman sustained severe injuries to the left side of her head and a fractured left leg, while the boy suffered head injuries along with a fractured left leg and arm after being trapped in the Proton.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Nurul Azlan Shah Jamalludin said bystanders helped free the victims before emergency crews arrived. Four other passengers in the Proton sustained minor injuries.
All victims were transported to a nearby hospital in two Health Ministry ambulances. The driver and passenger of the Toyota Hilux escaped unharmed.
The Fire and Rescue team received an emergency call at 2.44pm and arrived at the scene located 7 km away by 2.55pm.
The operation was brought under control by 3.26pm and fully concluded at 3.39pm after ensuring no further hazards remained.
