GEORGE TOWN: A 36-year-old woman died after she was believed to have suffered a heart attack while driving and crashed her multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) into two parked motorcycles along Jalan Macalister, according to China Press.
Northeast District Police Chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the woman died while receiving treatment at Penang Hospital following the incident on Thursday afternoon.
“The accident only involved the MPV driver, while the two motorcycles seen in the viral video were unoccupied and parked by the roadside outside a restaurant,” he said.
A 1.52-minute video showing the MPV hitting the motorcycles and bystanders trying to help the woman had earlier gone viral on social media.
Abdul Rozak said a post-mortem would be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, while the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
