Woman faked being a substitute teacher just to go into class and berate the teens

A Wisconsin woman has been accused of pretending to be a teacher — not to uplift and inspire — but to level her gripes with kids these days.

Amy Jones, 23, went to her alma mater on September 24 under the guise of a substitute teacher and spent nearly three classroom periods berating and cursing at the students, as well as asking them lewd questions, before she was escorted out of the school, according to Milwaukee County officials.

Students at Rufus King International High School told a school resource officer that Jones was “using profane language, racial slurs, sexually derogatory statements and organizing students by race and gender in class,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by local outlet WISN.

She allegedly called one student “fat boy,” asked another student “if she wanted to be a stripper or a hooker,” and allegedly told two white students that “they were the type of people to start school shootings,” a 16-year-old boy told authorities.

Jones also allegedly asked if any students had a vape or weed because class was “so f***ing lame and annoying,” Fox6 News Milwaukee reported, citing the complaint.

Jones was escorted from the school by police after the principal, Doreen Badillo, became aware of the situation.

Badillo told authorities that eight teachers called in sick that day and only seven positions were filled, so she believed Jones “got lucky.”

When questioned by police, Jones allegedly said she went to her old high school “because she was bored” and that she “hates kids and she just wanted to f*** around."

Jones was taken into custody last Thursday, according to local jail records.

She is facing six felony charges, including one count of impersonating a public employee and five counts of exposing a child to harmful descriptions. If convicted, she could be sentenced to a maximum of 21 years in prison.

Her defense team has argued that she is managing bipolar disorder and had a problem with her medication delivery on the day she allegedly posed as a substitute teacher, WISN reported.

In a statement to the school community Tuesday, Badillo said Jones “did go through the school’s daily safety scan” but that the office “did not follow proper district protocol in validating the individual as a substitute teacher.”

Badillo said the office workers must check that the person coming to fill in for a teacher is in a system of substitute teachers called Frontline and is “assigned to the school based on a specific teacher’s absence” before allowing them in the classrooms.

“This should happen every time a substitute visits a school. There is no excuse for it not occurring, and we take this matter seriously,” Badillo said. “We understand how disturbing this is, and we are taking every step to address where errors happened.”

Badillo said the matter is still under an internal investigation.

Jones has a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 20.
