LAHAD DATU: Police arrested a woman suspected of abandoning a baby boy in front of a house at Kampung Burung, Jalan Bakawali, here, July 18.

District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail, said the 30-year-old woman was detained last Sunday at Lahad Datu Police Headquarters.

“The suspect admitted to giving birth to the baby at her house before dumping the baby outside.

The investigation was conducted by the Crime Investigation Division of Lahad Datu Police Headquarters.

Dzulbaharin added that the police will apply for a remand at the Lahad Datu Court for further investigation.

On July 18, a baby boy was found abandoned in front of a house in Kampung Burung, Jalan Bakawali.

The baby was discovered alive at about 3.06am and later taken to Lahad Datu Hospital for treatment.

However, the baby was born premature and due to health reasons was pronounced dead at 7.02pm the same day.
