TAWAU: A woman sustained bruises and cuts after she was allegedly punched by her ex-husband.

The suspect was also said to have hit the woman with a vacuum cleaner rod during the incident at Kg Sungai Imam, here, on Wednesday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said according to a report lodged by the victim, her ex-husband had gone to her house and accused her of scheming against him with her relative.

“The man went to his ex-wife’s house, and an argument started there.

The suspect was nabbed on the same day, around 9.35pm, he said, adding that the vacuum cleaner rod used in the incident was also seized.

Jasmin said the woman sustained injuries to her jaw and face from the alleged attack and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

He said the case is being investigated for causing hurt under Section 324 and Section 326A of the Penal Code.

If convicted, the offender can be jailed up to 10 years, fined or caned, or either two out of the three punishments.
