Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old undocumented woman, who stole nutritional supplement products from pharmacies by concealing them between her legs, was jailed a total of four months, Friday.

Nor Raidah Hasnani Musa pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to committing the offences between Oct 25 and Dec 13, this year.

AdvertisementRaidah was jailed a month jail on each count from the date of her arrest on Dec 14.

The court ordered Raidah to serve the sentences concurrently and to be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.

Read more On the first count, Raidah stole 10 cans of the products - Ensure Gold Vanilla 850gm (seven tins), Ensure Gold Wheat 850gm (two tins) and a tin Abbot Glucerna Improved Formula Gold 850gm (chocolate) worth a total of RM1,020 at the Sunlight Pharmacy, Kg Air, on Oct 25, at 5.30pm.

On the second count, Raidah stole two tins of Ensure Gold Milk valued at RM238 at Public Medicare Group Farmasi, Inanam town, on Dec 9, at 5.40pm.

Advertisement (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});On the third count, Raidah stole 13 types of merchandise including personal care items valued a total of RM589.70 at the Orange Convenient Store, Taman Taitet, Keramat, on Dec 11, at 6.20pm.

Raidah on the fourth count, was found stealing two tins of Ensure Gold Milk worth a total of RM238 at Public Medicare Group Pharmacy, on Dec 13, at 4.03pm.

The prosecution’s case stated that on Dec 13, the complainant in the fourth case recognised Raidah as the individual who had stolen the nutritional supplement products from the premises on two previous occasions.

Police investigations revealed that Raidah’s modus operandi involved bringing her children into the premises and stealing items while the staff were busy attending to other customers.

Raidah had hidden the cans between her legs under her clothing and walked out without paying.

In the third case, CCTV footage showed Raidah placing personal care items into her small bag.

Raidah was arrested by the police on Dec 14 following a report lodged against her.

Raidah’s action in all the premises were recorded by CCTV.

Police investigations also revealed that Raidah had confessed to selling the stolen nutritional supplement products to pedestrians in the Safma area for RM10 each tin.

The police seized the clothing and bag used by Raidah during the offences.

Unrepresented, Raidah requested a lenient sentence.

Inspector Alia Nuurlysa Adnan requested an appropriate sentence and for Raidah to be referred to the Immigration Department as she was undocumented.
