A WOMAN leapt from a moving e-hailing vehicle in Klang, after reportedly feeling alarmed by the driver’s actions.
The incident occurred near Taman Eng Ann, and was later widely shared on social media.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, filed a police report at around 9 a.m. after the woman, aged 25, opened the back door of the vehicle and jumped out while it was still in motion.
Klang North District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao, provided details of the incident, saying that the driver was en route to drop off two passengers when the unexpected event took place.
“Upon noticing the woman’s actions, the driver immediately stopped the vehicle and discovered that the woman had sustained minor injuries.
Initial investigations suggest that she became panicked and anxious about her safety after noticing the driver observing her through the rearview mirror,” said Vijaya Rao.
Following the incident, the driver cancelled the trip and took the woman to a nearby clinic for medical attention. He later lodged a police report for protection.
“Following the report, the case is being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code, which deals with acts that endanger life or safety. We are currently working to locate the woman involved to complete the investigation,” added Vijaya Rao.
Authorities are now seeking to determine the full circumstances behind the incident, which has drawn attention to potential safety concerns in the e-hailing industry. - May 2, 2026
