In the latest example of cultural mix-ups meeting pop culture, a video of an Indian woman performing religious rituals for a Labubu doll has gone viral.
The 25-second clip, shared on X, shows the woman carefully placing the wide-eyed, snaggle-toothed toy in her home shrine, offering food as part of a traditional worship routine.
The video’s caption claims the woman’s daughter told her that Labubu is a “Chinese god”, prompting her to immediately include the doll in her prayers.

For the uninitiated, Labubu is part of “The Monsters” series created by Hong Kong-born illustrator Kasing Lung.
Known for its wide eyes, pointed ears, and mischievous snaggle-toothed grin, the character was inspired by Nordic folklore and has become a cult collectible across Asia.
First appearing as part of blind box figurines by POP MART, Labubu has since spawned countless variants — from tiny keychains to life-sized statues — and gained a global following.
The craze hit new heights after being spotted with celebrities like BLACKPINK’s Lisa and Rihanna, with rare editions fetching jaw-dropping sums at auction.
