
PETALING JAYA: Two competitors suffered “health issues” during the swimming leg of the Ironman Langkawi race this morning.
One of them, a 44-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital with breathing difficulties.
Langkawi police chief Shariman Ashari said the other person, a man, suffered from a “health issue” during the event but recovered.
“The woman remains unconscious in hospital,” he was reported as saying by Sinar Harian.

Read more Separately, at the same event, a spectator fell from an unspecified height and suffered head injuries, Shariman said. The man was treated and discharged.
He said 120 officers and men have been deployed throughout the event to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
The Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship Langkawi was held today, with the swimming leg held at Pantai Kok.
Participants are required to complete a 1.9km ocean swim, a 90km cycle ride and a 21km run.
