KOTA KINABALU: A woman in Kuching has reported a hair salon to the consumer tribunal for charging her more than RM1,600 for a hair makeover, according to the Dayak Daily.

A social media post on the expensive charges incurred by the woman and her husband and their son went viral recently.

Based on the receipt dated Sept 9 on the post, the woman’s husband and child were charged RM35 and RM25 respectively for their haircuts, while she was charged RM1,628 for the colouring and cutting of her hair and an additional RM505 for the purchase of three haircare products.

The post attracted a flood of comments from netizens who were divided between supporting the couple and the hair salon.

In response, the hairstylist who was responsible for serving the family also took to social media to explain that he had briefed the woman and her husband on the entire process.

He also said the pricing for his services which he claimed had been acquired for years of learning and training had always been premium and he never charged below RM500.
