A woman sparked debate after calling out her boyfriend’s “man princess” attitude, claiming he spent most of their date on his phone despite her travelling to meet him and covering the expenses
A WOMAN has taken to social media to vent her frustration over what she described as her boyfriend’s “man princess” attitude after she travelled to another city to meet him, only for him to spend most of their time together on his phone.
According to Uthaya, she went to considerable lengths to meet her boyfriend, including travelling to his city, paying for tolls and petrol, picking him up from his home, choosing the restaurant and paying for their meal.
“I travelled all the way to his city, paid for the toll and petrol, picked him up from his house, chose the restaurant and even paid the bill,” she wrote.
However, she claimed her boyfriend paid little attention to her during their two-hour meetup.
“Out of two hours of meeting up, he spent almost one hour and 40 minutes on his phone, 10 minutes eating and maybe 10 minutes actually talking to me,” she said.
She said the only thing her boyfriend did was drive her car between his house and the restaurant.
She was also upset that he did not text her afterwards to ask whether she had arrived home safely.
In a subsequent post, she expressed further frustration over what she described as his attitude.
“Yet, somehow, he still has the audacity to tell me that he has ‘done so much’ for me. Men – nowadays!!!! Honestly, just another reason for me to stay single.”
Her posts attracted numerous comments from netizens, with many offering advice and sharing their views. Some also responded with humorous remarks, which the woman acknowledged in a light-hearted manner.
One netizen summed up the situation by writing: “Bro is a princess.”
Another commented: “Somehow, it always feels like the person giving their all ends up experiencing the one-sided part of it. Maybe that’s just the nature of giving more than you receive.”
The woman replied: “Maybe… let the universe decide, but I’m walking away from him.”
Several commenters also questioned why she had paid the bill. She explained that her boyfriend had been occupied with his phone at the time.
Another netizen offered a blunt suggestion: “Drop him before it’s too late.”
One commenter reflected: “Maybe the hardest part isn’t recognising that someone isn’t meeting us halfway. Maybe it’s recognising why we keep walking the extra distance anyway.”
Another urged her to raise her expectations, writing: “Raise your standards. If not, men will always take advantage of you settling. Never ever settle.”
