SHAH ALAM – Former Subang Member of Parliament (MP) Wong Chen has officially joined Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) effective Wednesday and has been tasked with overseeing the preparation of the party’s policy papers.

In a joint statement, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and Syukri Razab said Wong submitted his membership application online, which would be processed in accordance with the party’s membership regulations.

They said Wong, who had served as an MP since 2013, would oversee the preparation of Bersama’s policy papers.

“Leading up to Merdeka Day 2026, Bersama will begin publishing a series of policy papers known as Kertas Kancil.

“Each of the 12 Bersama Agenda will be explored in depth to encourage discussions within society on the steps, policies, laws and programmes that need to be implemented to achieve the outcomes outlined in the Bersama Agenda,” they said.

On Monday, Wong announced his resignation as the Subang MP, effective at 5pm.

He said the resignation letter had been submitted to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on Aug 5.

Meanwhile, Bersama also announced its first group of seven party spokespersons, comprising figures with backgrounds in economics, accounting, engineering, media and law.

They were Sum Dek Joe, Ibrahim Sani, Wan Zulaika Abdul Kahar, Jhen Pei Seah, Anbarasan Murugesu, Tang Hong Yau and Rabiatul Adawiyah Sulaiman.

Bersama said the seven figures had been entrusted with the mandate to represent the party in their respective fields and communities.

Apart from Bersama the spokespersons, the party also introduced two other categories of party representatives, namely Calon Bayangan Bersama (Bersama Shadow Candidate) and Penggerak Bersama (Bersama Mobiliser).

They said shadow candidate had been identified and given the mandate to organise the party’s preparations in constituencies it would contest.

"Penggerak Bersama is given the mandate to serve as a point of reference for Bersama members and represent Bersama in managing the party’s growth,” they said.

The three leaders added that the appointments were made as the party entered its next phase of development, which required more emerging leaders to manage and mobilise the party.

“Bersama management will announce the spokespersons, shadow candidate and mobiliser from time to time to strengthen the party’s management structure, towards a party election to select a new leadership line-up,” they said.

Meanwhile, the process would begin with amendments to the Bersama Constitution, which were being managed in line with legal requirements under the Societies Act.
