A 26-year-old worker died after falling into a 20-foot-deep chemical waste tank at an industrial facility in Pasir Gudang, Johor
PETALING JAYA: A 26-year-old worker died after falling into a 20-foot-deep chemical waste tank at an industrial facility in Pasir Gudang, Johor, last night.
Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Firdaus Ahmad said the incident occurred at about 9.51pm when the man fell into a metal hydroxide sludge tank, Kosmo reported.
Firefighters reached the premises about four minutes after receiving the emergency call and found the victim submerged about 1.5 metres inside the tank.
Special equipment was used to recover the victim from the tank.
A medical officer subsequently confirmed the man’s death at the scene.
The victim’s body was later handed over to the police, who are investigating the incident.
