- England fast bowler Mark Wood has announced his immediate retirement from international cricket at the age of 36 following recurring knee injuries.
- The decision comes after medical advice rendered Test and 50-over cricket unfeasible, following knee swelling during the first Ashes Test in Perth last November.
- A two-time World Cup winner, Wood was a central figure in England's 2019 50-over World Cup triumph on home soil and their 2022 T20 World Cup victory in Australia, while he also won the Ashes with England in 2015.
- Since making his debut against New Zealand in 2015, he claimed 119 wickets in 38 Tests, 80 wickets in 70 ODIs, and 54 wickets in 38 IT20s.
