World Cup today: Argentina begin defence of title and Tunisia sack manager

  • 2018 World Cup winners France begin their 2026 campaign today taking on Senegal at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey – the opening game in Group I kicks off at 8pm BST (3pm ET).
  • Iraq will play their first World Cup game in 40 years when they take on Norway at 11pm BST (6pm ET). The game takes place at the Boston Stadium, Massachusetts.
  • World champions Argentina start the defence of their campaign against Algeria in Kansas. The game kicks off at 2am on Wednesday BST (that’s 9pm Tuesday ET).
  • While the other game in Group J sees Austria take on Jordan at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium. Kick off is 5am BST (12am ET).
  • Tunisia have sacked coach Sabri Lamouchi after the national team suffered a 5-1 thrashing by Sweden in their first World Cup match – he has been replaced by Hervé Renard.
