
PAPAR: An unexploded World War II (WW2) bomb was detonated by police Bomb Disposal Unit near Lok Kawi Plastic Industries, at 2pm, Wednesday
The remnant was found by workers around 1.30pm Tuesday afternoon at a construction site in the industrial area.

He said the workers saw a large object and dug slowly until they managed to remove the object from the ground. “They later found that the object was an old bomb that had been buried and came to the Kinarut police station to lodge a report,” he said.

Read more Upon receiving the report, Kamaruddin said a team was dispatched to the location along with the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) from Papar District Police Headquarters (IPD) and Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK).
He said further examination revealed that the bomb was still active and was believed to be a relic from the Second World War. “Several roads were closed to facilitate preparations for the detonation of the bomb in the area Wednesday morning,” he added.

“Several agencies such as the Environment Department, the Aviation Department, Sabah Electricity along with the Fire and Rescue Department also provided assistance and advice prior to the detonation.”
