A Mexican wrestler has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 75-year-old referee after a high-risk manoeuvre was reportedly performed on him.
Wrestler Hijo de Fishman delivered a piledriver, a move in which an opponent is flipped upside down and spiked headfirst into the mat, to veteran referee Gerardo German Pineda, who subsequently fell unconscious, report TMZ Sports.
Ringside footage filmed earlier in the match shows Pineda receiving a bodyslam from Hijo de Fishman and clutching his back.
Emergency responders found Pineda dead by the time they had arrived, with prosecutors arresting and charging Hijo de Fishman with manslaughter, said the Times of India, citing local reports in Mexico.
