Aaron Rai won the PGA Championship in superb style on Sunday at Aronimink.

And Xander Schauffele made a series of comments about Rai after he finished his final round at Aronimink.

Not many golf fans fancied the 31-year-old Englishman’s chances heading into the final round of the PGA Championship.

However, Aaron Rai proved everyone wrong by shooting a sensational final round 65 to win the PGA Championship.

He was one of the few players to get his strategy spot on during the final round at Aronimink on Sunday.

And Xander Schauffele commented on Rai after the American ended up in a tie for seventh at the PGA.

Xander Schauffele’s statement on Aaron Rai after his PGA Championship win

Schauffele addressed the media after he posted a final-round 69 at Aronimink.

The two-time major winner responded when asked what he makes of Rai as both a golfer and a person, while the Englishman was still finishing up his final round.

I’m assuming he’s going to get it done, the Californian said.

I’m super happy for him. He’s such a good dude. Rarely do you see people work really hard. I mean, that’s not fair. Rarely do you feel like people work way harder than you is what I was trying to say.

I feel like I’ve played a pretty good amount of time, and Aaron is always there. He’s always in the gym. He’s always on the range. He’s always — you know, at the Scottish, I’m staying right on site there. I thought it was fun for Austin and I to go putt. Aaron is finishing up his little putting session at 9:00 p.m. and going to the gym at 9:45.

This was three years ago. I think that’s what it’s about to be a major champion. You put the work in when nobody’s looking. Super pumped for him and his team.

He’s such a nice guy. All world gentleman, no doubt.

Aaron Rai is a true gentleman and an exceptional golfer

What brilliant words those were from Schauffele about Aaron Rai.

The American has given us all a great insight into what type of person the Englishman is.

Rai may have headed into the PGA Championship as somewhat of an unknown, but he will leave Aronimink with a Wanamaker trophy to show for his efforts.

The challenge now for Rai will be to carry this fine form on throughout the remainder of the season and beyond.

He clearly has the ability and mentality required to win the biggest tournaments, so there is no reason why he can’t chalk off more majors over the course of the next decade or so.
