Xiaomi has officially unveiled the new Xiaomi 17T Series in Malaysia, introducing the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro as the latest additions to its flagship T Series smartphone lineup. For the first time, Xiaomi is offering dual-size models within the T Series, combining Leica-powered imaging, advanced eye-care displays and large silicon-carbon batteries in slimmer and more refined designs.

The Xiaomi 17T Series focuses heavily on photography and content creation, introducing Leica 5x telephoto cameras across both models while also debuting several new imaging technologies such as Leica Live Moment and enhanced live cinematography features.

Photography remains the biggest highlight of the Xiaomi 17T Series, with both smartphones featuring a triple-camera setup led by a 50MP main camera paired with Leica optics.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro uses a larger 1/1.31-inch sensor, while the standard Xiaomi 17T features a 1/1.55-inch sensor. Both devices combine Leica UltraPure optical design with a Leica Summilux lens structure designed to deliver improved clarity, dynamic range and natural depth rendering.

For the first time in the Xiaomi T Series lineup, both models now feature a Leica 5x telephoto camera capable of producing 50MP images with optical image stabilisation. Xiaomi says the telephoto system supports everything from 30cm macro photography to 10x optical-grade zoom and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom for long-range shooting flexibility.

The telephoto system additionally enhances videography capabilities, particularly on the Xiaomi 17T Pro, which introduces 4K 60fps cinematic recording with natural background bokeh effects. Xiaomi also includes specialised shooting modes such as Stage Mode designed to improve performance during concerts and challenging lighting environments.

Leica Live Moment Adds Motion-Based Storytelling

Beyond traditional photography, Xiaomi is introducing Leica Live Moment as a new imaging experience designed to capture movement and emotion rather than static moments alone.

The feature records subtle motion leading into each frame, preserving expressions and environmental movement to create more immersive storytelling. Leica Live Moment works across all rear camera focal lengths and maintains Leica’s signature visual style throughout the experience.

Leica Live Portrait additionally enhances portrait photography through natural background blur while retaining motion fluidity. Xiaomi has also introduced exclusive Leica watermarks and collage features designed specifically for Leica Live Moment captures.

Exclusive to the Xiaomi 17T Pro is Live Cinematography support, including Ultra-HD Live Moment recording in 4K alongside dynamic zoom effects through Freestyle and Portrait Live cinematography modes.

The Xiaomi 17T Series also introduces Xiaomi Vision Care, Xiaomi’s new eye-care display system developed to improve long-term viewing comfort.

Both devices feature 1.5K AMOLED displays with peak brightness reaching up to 3500 nits for clearer visibility under direct sunlight. Xiaomi says the displays intelligently adjust brightness, blue light output, flicker and motion blur according to ambient lighting conditions.

Thanks to these technologies, the Xiaomi 17T Series becomes the company’s first smartphone lineup to receive TÜV Rheinland quadruple eye-care certification together with Xiaomi’s first TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care certification.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro further improves low-light viewing through hardware-level 1-nit minimum brightness for more comfortable night-time usage.

Display smoothness is equally impressive, with the Xiaomi 17T Pro supporting refresh rates up to 144Hz while the standard Xiaomi 17T supports up to 120Hz. Xiaomi additionally adopts its new LIPO packaging technology on the Pro model, allowing it to achieve ultra-thin 1.29mm bezels on all four sides.

Slimmer Designs With Premium Finishes

Xiaomi says the Xiaomi 17T Pro balances premium aesthetics with functionality through a refined brushed metal finish, slimmer camera module and micro-curved edges for improved comfort.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro will be available in Deep Blue, Deep Violet and Black colour options, while the Xiaomi 17T adds Opal White alongside Violet, Blue and Black finishes.

The standard Xiaomi 17T additionally adopts a more compact and lightweight form factor designed for users prioritising portability and easier one-handed usage.

Xiaomi claims the battery delivers an average of 1.88 days of usage for typical users while supporting 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless HyperCharge.

Meanwhile, the standard Xiaomi 17T packs a slightly smaller but still substantial 6500mAh battery paired with 67W HyperCharge support.

Performance is handled by MediaTek’s latest flagship chipsets, with the Xiaomi 17T Pro running the new 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, while the Xiaomi 17T features the Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset built on a 4nm architecture.
