Manchester United defender Chris Smalling will wear the No6 at AS Roma.
Smalling moves to the Giallorossi on a season-long loan, admitting a chat with coach Paulo Fonseca was enough to convince him.
He said, "From the moment I spoke to him we talked about his vision. For me it's a perfect situation. I have the right experience. If he wants to play with the high line it will be important to have fast defenders and I think I can adapt to this style of play very quickly.
"I can't wait to join my teammates, when I realised that the interest was real I was very happy, but I wanted to hear from the coach to understand his style of play and how he saw me on his team.
"As soon as we finished talking I said to myself, 'Ok, let's do it'.
"It was the last confirmation I needed to make this decision: thirty seconds later I wanted to close the deal."
