Mayor Suman Bahamani visited the Sanjay Vihar Colony area of Ward No. 22 here on Thursday and listened to the problems of residents.
The residents from Sanjay Vihar, Gobind Pura and surrounding areas raised their problems regarding sanitation, drainage, sewerage and other problems related to basic amenities before the Mayor. They also praised the Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri and Mayor for improving the streetlight system in their ward.
The residents said due to the lack of proper drainage system in many areas, waterlogging occurs during the rainy season. They added that damaged drains in some streets caused dirty water to accumulate on roads, causing inconvenience to the residents. They demanded strengthening of the sanitation system.
The Mayor said the Municipal Corporation was continuously working to improve civic amenities. “While sanitation workers’ strike has affected sanitation in some areas, the system will be improved soon,” the Mayor said, directing officials to ensure prompt resolution of the residents’ problems.
She added that the drainage system in the ward would be strengthened to provide a permanent solution. She added that a file regarding the construction of new drains in the area was under process and the necessary work would begin soon. “The Municipal Corporation’s objective is to provide basic amenities in every ward, so that residents do not have to face any problem,” the Mayor said.
Councillor Ruchi Kamboj was among others present on the occasion.
