Good news CIMB Bank users. The bank has finally added support for Apple Pay to its customers in Malaysia, which makes it one of the last big banks here to enable it. It comes several years after Apple Pay first entered Malaysia in 2022, even though CIMB first hinted that they would support it way back in 2023.
This means that you can now hook up your CIMB card to your iPhone, and use your iPhone to pay for your purchases. That being said, not all CIMB cards are accepted; at time of writing only credit cards are allowed to do so, with the exception of the CIMB Petronas Visa Infinite-i, CIMB Petronas Platinum-i, Platinum Business card and Fuel Tanker card.
Here’s how to link your supported CIMB credit card to your Apple Wallet:
CIMB OCTO App
• Open the CIMB OCTO App and select ‘Add to Apple Wallet’
• Follow the on-screen steps to complete verification

Apple Wallet via CIMB OCTO App
• In Apple Wallet, choose to add a card via CIMB OCTO App
• You will be redirected to the app to complete verification
Tap to add card via Apple Wallet
• Open Apple Wallet and add your credit card via NFC tap
• Your iPhone will securely read the card information and guide you
through the setup
Manual entry in Apple Wallet
• Open the Apple Wallet app, tap the ‘+’ icon, and enter card details
manually
• Cardholder verification is required via SMS OTP or SecureTAC or
call to the Contact Centre
Other things to note include that you can only attach the same credit card to up to a maximum of 5 supported Apple devices, and that each CIMB credit card must be manually attached to each Apple device such as your iPhone or Apple Watch before you can use it for Apple Pay.

As part of the launch, you can also get up to RM118 in cashback when you use Apple Pay with your CIMB credit card. This is limited to RM68 on CIMB Mastercard credit cards, and up to RM50 on CIMB Visa credit cards, and you’ll first need to make five transactions with a minimum of RM50 each via Apple Pay.
