Pretty sure everyone’s run into this situation before – you heard a familiar track or sample, but you don’t know the name, then you use things like AHA Music or Shazam to search it up for you. Well, today, you can do that via ChatGPT since the Shazam service has now been integrated.
It basically works the same way as you expect – you just have to let a music or sound clip run in the background of your device, and go to ChatGPT and ask “Shazam, what’s playing” or “What is this song, Shazam?” (Go creative, we won’t judge), then it’ll just let you know what it is.
If there’s enough information around, then ChatGPT can also show you the artwork and preview track inline so that you can confirm whether it’s the one you want on the spot.
And yes, you don’t need the Shazam app installed, since the service runs through OpenAI’s backend instead. Or vice versa, you can sync what’s been identified on ChatGPT into your Shazam library.
The global rollout is currently happening and is available on all ChatGPT platforms, including iOS, Android, and the webpage.
