Japan have spent the majority of their 2026 World Cup so far competing in Texas.
Their opening Group F match took place at Dallas Stadium, where they drew 2-2 with the Netherlands.
Then, after travelling to Guadalupe, Mexico, for their second match versus Tunisia, Japan most recently clashed with Sweden in Dallas this week.
Now, one supporter of the ‘Samurai Blue’ has spoken very highly of the Texan people after travelling to the state to watch his team in action.
Japan fan says Texas has ‘a big heart’
During an interview with FOX 4 NEWS, the supporter was asked how he has enjoyed being in Texas, to which he said: “It’s amazing.”
He continued: “So, I’d like to really thank the people of Texas. You know, people in Texas, they say everything is big, but they mention about the food, the roads, and the buildings.
“But for me, you have a big heart. Texas is big warmth, your big kindness, and your big warmth and your big smile, and some of us have a little bit of a big appetite.
“But it’s been amazing. So on behalf of all the Japan fans… I’d like to give a big Texas thank you, Arigato.”
Japan’s group-stage campaign may be over, but their time in Texas is not.
After drawing with Sweden this week, they managed to secure second place in their group.
There are still a few matches to be played before the final Round of 32 bracket is confirmed.
But at present, Japan are set to face off with Brazil in the next stage of the World Cup on June 29, with that fixture being held at the Houston Stadium.
Should they win that match, they will then leave Texas to compete at the New York New Jersey Stadium in the Round of 16.
