Young army officer killed in early-morning crash with cement lorry

A 24-YEAR-OLD army officer was killed in the early hours of the morning after the car he was driving collided with a cement lorry along Jalan Masjid Tanah, Kampung Solok Duku, Alor Gajah.

The fatal accident occurred at around 3.40am, leaving the victim trapped in the severely damaged Perodua Myvi. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Malacca Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer, Deputy Fire Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid, said a distress call was received from a member of the public at 3.42am.

“A team of seven firefighters from the Masjid Tanah Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched and arrived at the location within five minutes,” he said.

He added, “The operations team managed to extricate the male victim, who was trapped in the driver’s seat, at 4.11am.”

The on-site medical officer confirmed the victim’s death, and the body was handed over to the police for further action.

Firefighters also carried out a clean-up operation to clear accident debris from the road. The operation concluded at 6.57am. - July 19, 2025
