In a recent incident at the Penang Bridge, a young man in his 20s was found safe after it was initially feared that he had fallen from the 2.2 Kilometer structure, heading towards the island from Perai yesterday morning.

The incident came to light when a group of coastal fishermen spotted the man struggling in the water and promptly lifted him up to the bridge pillar around 10:30 AM, tying him around it. The local fire and rescue department received a distress call at 10:47 AM, triggering a swift response from personnel at the Perai Fire and Rescue Station.

Upon their arrival, the rescue team discovered the victim had left behind a black Honda Wave motorcycle at the scene. During the incident, a fishing boat present in the vicinity assisted by lifting the victim to the edge of the bridge pillar and securing him before departing.

Two skilled rescue team members descended using a rescue rope to safely calm and assist the victim. Subsequently, the victim, found in stable condition, was handed over to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) boat, which transported him to the Batu Uban Jetty.
