Kota Kinabalu: Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) representative Faezrah Rizalman said youth participation in politics must go beyond simply “promoting democracy”.

“Young people should take an active and vocal role in shaping policy governance.

“You must be brave enough to speak up and acknowledge mistakes, even when they come from our own leaders,” she said.

Asked what system or safeguards can be put in place to prevent the mismanagement of funds, she said that a Sovereign Fund should be established to properly manage state finances and revenue.

Not only that, Faezrah also suggested creating a Public Expenditure Committee (PECD) under the State Assembly.

“The government must also publish a clear and strategic development plan, one that outlines goals and priorities over the next decade or two, showing exactly how the additional funds will be used,” she said.

She also said the slogan “Sabahans for Sabah” feels more appropriate. Young Sabahans must ask themselves what they can personally contribute to Sabah.

“Simply asking for benefits without effort is not enough. Unity and collective effort are necessary to build a better future.

“We must choose leaders with a clear vision, because everything they do today will shape Sabah’s future,” she said.
