Zack Polanski says he made ‘mistake’ over Farage social media image

  • Green Party leader Zack Polanski stated he made an "inadvertent mistake" regarding a controversial social media image featuring a guillotine and a message referencing Nigel Farage.
  • The image, which Polanski said he "shared inadvertently" on Instagram before removing it, depicted a man wearing a T-shirt with "We’re only making plans for Nigel" and a guillotine.
  • Reform UK reported Mr Polanski to the police, with home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf accusing him of "inciting murder" and Nigel Farage calling for his arrest.
  • Polanski told BBC Newsnight he did not pay enough attention to the T-shirt and was "horrified" by its "dangerous message," but refused to apologise to Mr Farage, stating it was a mistake.
  • The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are "conducting inquiries" into the report, while work and pensions secretary Pat McFadden emphasised the duty of politicians to be careful with social media posts.
