Malaysian karateka Zakiah Adnan clinches bronze in the women’s kumite under-68kg event at the SEA Games in Bangkok.

NATIONAL karate exponent Zakiah Adnan secured a bronze medal in the women’s kumite under-68 kilogramme category at the SEA Games Thailand 2025.

The 22-year-old earned her podium finish at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex today.

Zakiah advanced to the quarter-finals before suffering a defeat.

She was granted a second chance through the repechage round to compete for bronze.

The Malaysian staged a comeback to defeat Myanmar’s Ei Ei Moe 9-6.

“I am indeed satisfied because throughout this year I have often had to deal with injuries from the start of the season until the World Karate Federation championships,” she said.

“Although I have not fully recovered yet, all the sacrifices and my coach’s advice have finally paid off.”

The national karate squad has now collected two gold medals, one silver and four bronze at the Games. – Bernama
