KOTA KINABALU: The inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir will continue as scheduled despite the upcoming 17th State Election.
Counsel Mohd Sharulnizam Mohd Salleh said there has been no formal request to postpone the proceedings due to the election.
He said the inquest will proceed as usual and any application for rescheduling will only be made once the election dates are officially announced.
Sharulnizam noted that several parties involved in the inquest, including lawyers, may also be participating in ensuring a smooth election process.
He added that the coroner has indicated lawyers may apply for adjustments once the election schedule is confirmed to discuss how best to manage the inquest.
