KOTA KINABALU: Forensic pathologist Dr Jessie Hiu (pic) told the inquest on Wednesday that the hostel’s third-floor concrete railing was taller than Zara Qairina Mahathir’s centre of gravity, making it unlikely for her to have fallen from a normal standing position.
She explained that the metal rail attached to the railing was measured at 118 centimetres, while Zara’s height was 154 centimetres.
Hiu said the difference of 36 centimetres placed the railing above the centre of gravity, which in females is usually located just below the navel.
She added that the measurements suggested Zara could not have toppled over the railing simply by standing near it.
However, Hiu said it was possible for her to climb onto the concrete railing, cross the metal bars, and stand on top of it.
