KOTA KINABALU - Police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid speculation over the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir, pending further investigations.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

"The Sabah police contingent will carry out a transparent and comprehensive investigation,” he said in a statement today.

The 13-year-old student was found unconscious in a drain near her school dormitory in the early hours of July 16.

She was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital here at 11 am the next day. - BERNAMA
